Join us for Winter Leadership Training - January 23-26!

posted on December 05

Dear Northern Piedmont Leaders,

My guess is that you and your congregation are engaged in preparations and activities for Advent and the Christmas season!  This is a busy time for sure, but I want to ask you to look ahead for just a moment to an event that will help equip you for the congregational leadership role you are taking on for 2023.

I am excited to invite you to join me in attending the 2023 WNCC Winter Leadership Training (WLT) online conference which is taking place Monday, January 23rd through Thursday, January 26th.  A great variety of training sessions are being offered, some during the evening and some during the day, each lasting between 60-90 minutes. And, registration is free!

Perhaps you've agreed to serve as Chairperson or member of a committee such as Staff/Pastor-Parish Relations, Finance, Worship, or Outreach. Or, maybe you've accepted a role as a leader in Children or Youth Ministry, or within your church's United Women of Faith, United Methodist Men, or in one of the many behind-the-scenes roles that make ministry in your local church possible.

No matter how you are serving, I believe you will find the 2023 WLT event helpful.  Not only will you be able to hear from some wonderful leaders in our Conference (and beyond!), you'll have the opportunity to connect with other local church leaders from across our district and conference to share ideas and learn from each other.

In the past, WLT events were designed and presented by each individual district annually. After COVID-19 shifted the 2021 training online, leaders and coordinators in the Western North Carolina Conference (WNCC) office realized the positive implications gathering everyone together virtually could have. Being online provided access to a larger pool of presenters which allowed for more diverse topics, and our connection was strengthened as leaders from one district gathered with leaders in other districts for camaraderie and learning. The hope is to continue to grow the offerings and participation each year.

The line-up of presenters for 2023 is outstanding, and I can’t wait to connect with you in some of the sessions! I encourage you to take a look at the schedule and session descriptions and register so we can experience this time of growth and learning together.

Please let me know if you have any questions about the event or if you attend sessions and would like to have a conversation afterward.

Thank you for serving your local church!  I am excited to be in ministry with you!

Blessings,

Kim Eller, District Lay Leader
Northern Piedmont District

P.S.   Please help spread the word to others in your church who you think would be interested in attending! While we especially hope those who are serving in leadership roles will attend, the training is open to everyone.
