Celebrating Covenant Faithfulness On First Days …
and Every Day
“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” – Luke 12:34
Today is the first day “in the office” for our newly appointed clergy all over the Conference. Most have already had the opportunity to make several introductions, and some have already attended to pastoral care concerns. We are glad to report that the seventeen new members of the Northern Piedmont family are getting settled in and beginning their good work. There’s something about July 1 that always feels like a fresh beginning for me. Like lots of clergy, I have “begun again” many times. I am familiar with boxes, moving vans, more boxes, re-filling office bookshelves, and saying hello to lots of new smiling faces.
Every July 1, I take a deep breath, and in my spirit, begin again. I recite the words of Wesley’s Covenant Prayer, and I “freely and heartily yield all things to (God’s) pleasure and disposal.” This July 1, I am so pleased to be continuing as your Superintendent. I begin my fourth year with you, and it is such an honor. As I begin, I am mindful of the privilege that it is to serve you all. May I please God through my service to you. I covenant to keep my vow.
It is also an honor today to thank those congregations who have been faithful and timely in their covenants to missional giving. They have a lot to celebrate, too!

Regular, faithful giving is a part of your covenant commitment to a connection that is larger than any of us, and your generosity does exponentially more worldwide than any one congregation, district, or conference could do alone. Your giving makes it possible for all of us in your District Office to do what we do, and for missionaries worldwide to share the love of Christ and feed the hungry. You provide access to resources that local churches use each and every day, and your generosity uplifts hearts and lives in countless ways. We are very proud to share this work with all of you. You are truly our partners in the Gospel, and this week we covenant again to be with you every step of the way.
With a Grateful Heart,
Bev
Rev. Bev Coppley
